Google News Alerts by email

I've never taken much notice of Google News so this may be very old hat, but have you come across their email alert system?

Never used it actually - but I'd be curious on how they dealt with privacy issues. After all, that's some awfully useful demographic information they would be collecting.

I've used it to help collect information on Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG), and I found it most useful. I doubt whether Google will have gleaned much from me in the way of user information... as it's a pretty narrow field of interest.
 
One slight downside, is that you can't seem to filter results you don't want. So I'd occasionally find myself reading about some SVG Athletics meetings or an SVG company board decision, etc.
