Hi Brian,

hobby to e -commerce:

Well, only bought a computer less than two years ago, and had a bright idea that it would be nice to build a website for my wife's business (Face Painting). Did that and got good response etc. Far cheaper than yellow pages, thompsons et al.

Built a personal site fro the family, you know the usual thing, pictures, videos and what's going on etc, On this site I played around a lot with different techniques and methods , Flash, Frames, CSS, Dynamic HTML. Just seeing what worked and what was easy.

Thaen I built another , which was really an extension of the family site for a wider audience, mainly about motorsportand my experiencs competing, watching and helping out.

On this site a put a few affiliate bits and pieces, which I think have earned about £20 over the last 6 months.

Then came up with the idea that to get more traffic to the wife's site I'd build another face painting site dealing with the subject in broad terms. (This was probably a mistake SEO wise as both sites were well ranked until just after christmas when they disappeared way down the lists - I suspect it may have something to do with being on same IP address) Then went into an affiliate program to sell face paint on this site, sold bugger all, so did it ourselves.

Went live with the shop side of things back in November and haven't looked back since.

Progressed from paypal, and their cart, to a PHP cart and worldpay, through Adwords and overture, just supplying in the UK at first, but starting shipping into the European Union this week.

At the moment haven't had time to update the personal sites with much at all, the e shop takes up all the time I have on the computer, tweaking, newsletters, adwords etc

Cheers for now
