If you sell a physical product, do you offer a guarantee or any sort?  I offer 100% satisfaction guarantees within 30 days of delivery only.

A couple of people told me that I should NOT offer guarantees because people will take advantage of them.  ??  I don't quite understand that.

What kind of guarantee do you think sets a buyer's mind at ease and makes them more eager to buy from you?

I think it's okay to offer gurantees.

Granted there are people that take advantage, but they are not in the majority and I don't believe in penalising everyone else because of them.

Maybet the key is to offer a limited or conditional gurantee

Thanks for the input.  Another question Smiley

What do you do about people who return something outside of the guaranteed time period?  I don't think you could possibly enforce it in some way without risking bad word of mouth advertising from this person.

Is the customer always right?

It also depends on what you guarantee.  For example, any softwares from PC application to playstation games should have a very strict refund policy (since it can easily be pirated, copied, and sent back to you.)

I would say that the guarantee should change based on the equipment you sell.

I think you actually have to enforce it, otherwise you could have people bring goods back at any time. People like that would be the exception (unless there is a problem with the product in the first instance). You should have enough good testimonals to counter anything negative said by the type of person you are refering to.

The truth is you can't always please everyone
