I was just wondering if anyone had any good free advertising ideas (other than SEO) for a website.  I know about forum signatures too.

Is it every worth it to place free classified ads online or anything like that?

I think it depends on what the product is.

If it is something unique which really stands out, then I believe a classified  is worth while

I would also suggest going on forums that is relevant to your website and end up talking about it (fitting in their discussion obviously)

I may not be exactly what you were looking for though...

and remember, once you are used to the forum, there is nothing stopping you from starting discussions

Does anyone think that posting free classifieds can help at all?  How about things like Craigslist?  I've sold an old fish tank off of there out of my garage, but never anything related to my business.

I agree with Slash..I find people click on my signature links from forums...I don't sell my products...I merely answer questions on the baords, and my link happens to be there..curiosity gets a lot of people checking my links out.

I use Craigslist to promote my business and it works for me.

Clicking on a link in the forum is what people are going to do.  Then it's up to you to get your product across to the public in an easy manner.

I was just thinking that nobody has mentioned traditional advertising yet. I leave flyers and brochures in community-friendly spots including stores, parks, and such.
