What things have you done to help build your traffic other than SEO and links...?

Developing traffic aside from links is really difficult...

I recently heard that advertising through pay-for-reading e-mails is inexpensive. I'm wondering what the return on something like that is.

I don't see good return in that....people who are paid to read email don't necessarily read it, they click where they have to click to get paid...

i did a paid traffic for one site...conversion was horrible..they clicked the main page and rarely went through other pages or links...click, sit a few seconds, leave..

I'm assuming you are talking about link exchanging or something like that, because you definately need to use your link to advertise your website.

My main methods of advertising are:
1) SEO
2) Article submission
3) Forum signatures
4) Blogging & blog commenting
5) Follow up with existing customers

I do blogs and I also wokr out deals with people. For instance, I may write a blog about their site in exchange for free advertising.

That is a good idea hokeshel.  How do you go about arranging these trades?  Do you just email the webmaster or advertise for the trade in other venues?

People found me via free articles that I have written on the Creative Latitude website. The more your name gets on the net, the better..one way or another..

I agree by saying that the more you get your name out there the better.  Go to Google and do a search for 'easy article writing.'  An article I wrote -- not a very good one either - comes up as the number one result.  At the bottom of that page is my article directory link.
It all helps.
