It seems that many online stores are now turning to Ebay to make most of their sales.
No doubt it is easier to get exposure on Ebay, but is it as profitable?

Ebay obviously take a cut of each sale you make, I wonder how much money merchants lose selling on ebay compared to running an online store?

I've got to admit, I've never really used eBay - either as a seller or buyer.

But, it seems that so long as you plan what you're doing properly, there are plenty of opportunities to be taken advantage of.

I sold 'junk' and some actual stock on Ebay for a while.  The fees were killing me and cutting so much into my profit I just gave it up.  Now, I put some of my products on free places like BluJay.com and other smaller auction or classified sites.  It brings in some business and sales.

It is really right, eBay charges much for the items that you sell.  It is good to find an alternative elsewhere that is for free or with less charge.

I guess it depends on where their sales would be if they weren't on eBay. If they're making 200% of what they would on their own, the fees might not be so bad.

That is very true... but, conversely, the time and energy spent taking care of your ebay business could be time spent advertising or building an ecommerce shop or website.  Tons of people make money on ebay, but I think lots of them might think that it is the only choice for them.

Ecommerce simply means that you are selling something online.  An ecommerce website usually has all the products on it like a catalog and a shopping cart program with which customers can purchase the products they want.
